Well, well, well, it seems like the mysterious mastermind behind the infamous $51.5 million Radiant hack of 2024 hasn’t quite had their fill of fun. In fact, they’ve just decided to take their ~5933.3 ETH (about $26.7 million, give or take a few tacos) and send it waltzing off to Tornado Cash. A classy move, really.
According to CertiK Alert (a.k.a. the digital watchdog that’s forever watching), our hacker friend bridged the ill-gotten funds to Ethereum and sent it off to the crypto mixer platform Tornado Cash. And just in case you didn’t get the memo, CertiK has been super kind to warn everyone about this lovely high-profile hack.
“On October 16th, 2024,” says CertiK in a tone that can only be described as ‘slightly alarming but with a touch of schadenfreude’, “the exploiter somehow gained access to a multi-sig wallet by compromising 3 of the 11 signers and drained approximately $55M from the lending pools.” Sounds like a top-tier heist, doesn’t it? 🎩💰

So, back in October 2024, Radiant Capital had the unfortunate pleasure of being hacked for a grand total of $51.5 million. What did the hacker do? Well, they used some trickery involving malicious contracts that convinced users to grant permissions to a rogue address, which promptly drained their funds. The list of stolen assets? Oh, just a small selection of wrapped BNB, ETH, USDC, and USDT, with the grand loot split between Arbitrum ($32 million) and BNB Chain ($18 million). Not bad for a day’s work.
But wait, there’s more! Just last month, our hacker friend got even fancier. They turned their stolen assets-valued at $53 million-into a staggering $102.54 million by playing a little game of “let’s trade ETH” and somehow pocketing a $49.5 million profit. Talk about a financial wizard. 🧙♂️✨
