$10 Million Stolen in Web3 Hack: Astra Nova Offers Token Buyback and Bounty to Catch Culprits!

Web3 AI Platform Offers Bounty and Token Buyback After $10 Million Hack

As a researcher following the AI entertainment space, I’ve learned that Astra Nova, the platform powered by artificial intelligence, has experienced a significant loss related to its recently released RVV token. It appears there’s been a substantial financial setback tied to this new digital asset.

On October 18th, the project announced that a security breach happened because someone gained access to an account belonging to one of their partners who helps with trading.

Astra Nova Loses Over $10 Million in RVV Token

The team reported that the attack happened shortly after the token was launched, taking advantage of a security weakness in the market maker’s account.

Astra Nova did not disclose the total amount of tokens drained from the exploit.

However, blockchain analyst EmberCN estimated the loss at approximately $10.3 million.

According to on-chain data analyzed by the expert, the attacker took 860 million RVV tokens – roughly 8.6% of all RVV tokens in existence – from the project’s original source. They then converted these tokens into Tether’s USDT stablecoin.

Approximately 860 million $RVV tokens (8.6% of the total supply) were transferred from the project’s minting contract and sold on the blockchain, causing a significant price drop. These tokens were exchanged for 10.288 million USDT, with 8.226 million USDT being transferred to Gate and Kucoin. The remaining 2.041 million USDT is still held in a wallet on the blockchain (0x643).

A large wave of selling quickly impacted the market. RVV’s price dropped over 50% in just 24 hours, falling from $0.26 to around $0.0103, according to CoinGecko data at the time of this report.

EmberCN reported that approximately $8.2 million from the funds was transferred to two major cryptocurrency exchanges, Gate and KuCoin. An additional $2 million is still held in a digital wallet that is being monitored.

Because of this, EmberCN doubted Astra Nova’s explanation of what happened, pointing out that the way the transaction occurred didn’t match how hackers usually operate.

EmberCN questioned how any hacker could turn stolen funds into USDT and then keep it, or even send it directly to a centralized exchange. They pointed out that USDT can be frozen, and such a move would be incredibly risky and unwise for a hacker to make.

Token Buyback and Bounty Offer

Following doubts and the recent market downturn, Astra Nova restated that it had been hacked from the outside, and that no employees were involved.

The project will buy back the RVV tokens that were impacted by the recent security breach. This is intended to help maintain a stable market for the tokens and restore investor confidence.

Astra Nova is responding to recent market events by repurchasing the same number of $RVV tokens that were impacted. This move is designed to safeguard token holders, maintain a stable market, and strengthen trust in $RVV for the long term.

The Astro Nova team is also offering a reward: anyone who returns the stolen funds to a confirmed recovery address will receive 10% of the recovered amount.

The team working on the project stated they won’t take the matter to court as long as they receive the complete payment. They also see the offer as a way to resolve the situation amicably.

The project said that if you send the complete amount back to the official recovery address we’ve shared, they won’t take any further steps. Once their security team confirms the transfer, you’ll receive the bounty.
