Oh, the humanity! It appears the U.S. Marshals Service has been having a bit of a yard sale, and the family jewels – in this case, a small fortune in Bitcoin – have been flying off the shelves. According to a thrilling document dated July 15, 2025, the Marshals are now sitting on a relatively paltry 28,988 BTC 🤑. A far cry, one might add, from the nearly 200,000 BTC they were thought to be hoarding like so many digital squirrels.
the federal government has been merrily liquidating its Bitcoin holdings, which would be worth a cool $3.4 billion in today’s market 🤑.
These ill-gotten gains, if you will, were largely acquired through a series of high-profile seizures, including the infamous Silk Road case – because who needs a physical highway when you can have a digital one, am I right? 🚗
Now, the U.S. Marshals have been hosting public auctions to offload their seized crypto for ages, but this latest update suggests they’re running low on, ahem, “merchandise” 🛍️. One can’t help but wonder what they’ll do with all that extra cash… perhaps invest in a diversified portfolio of Dogecoin and avocado toast? 🤔
