Oh boy, you won’t believe this one 🤯. Some poor guy, Alexander, a former crypto trader, gets kidnapped near Paris. I mean, what’s next? Holding up a Coinbase? 🤑
So, the kidnapper calls the police chief in Saint-Germain-en-Laye at 11 p.m. from Algeria, claiming they have a photo of Alexander on his knees with his hands tied. Yeah, because that’s not a weird thing to do at all 📸.
They want 10,000 euros for his release. I guess that’s like, a crypto-mining rig or something 💸.
Police action 🎉
The police are all like, “We gotta find this guy!” and they start tracking Alexander’s phone to the 10th arrondissement of Paris. I mean, it’s not like they have better things to do, right? 😂
They set up surveillance near Alexander’s home, just in case the kidnappers drop him off like an Uber 🚗.
And then, at 4:00 a.m., they spot Alexander walking home with a face that’s all swollen and shocked. I guess that’s what happens when you’ve been kidnapped and strangled 🤯.
He tells the police that the kidnappers strangled him until he passed out. Yeah, that’s a real fun time 😴.
French crypto crime wave 🌊
It turns out there’s been a whole wave of crypto-related crimes in France. Like, in January, some Ledger co-founder’s fingers got seared with a capitavaity thingy 🔥.
And in May, some crypto entrepreneur’s dad got kidnapped and had his finger chopped off. Yeah, because that’s not a hostage situation 🙅♂️.
Over 20 people have been arrested, but I guess this latest incident is still under investigation 🚔.
