Ripple’s CTO Retires… But There’s a Twist! 🎭

David Schwartz, our dear friend and former CTO of Ripple, has finally hung up his lab coat and declared himself “retired”-though one suspects he’s merely swapping his title for a more glamorous one. With a wink and a nod, he addressed the XRP community, as if they were old acquaintances at a garden party. 🎩✨

Notably, Schwartz was one of the co-founders of XRP Ledger-though one might argue he’s more of a “co-creator” in the grand scheme of things. 🧠

Here’s what Schwartz plans to do during retirement

As the New Year dawned, Schwartz subtly adjusted his X profile, changing his title to “CTO emeritus”-a fancy way of saying, “I’m retired, but I’ll still haunt your meetings.” However, while giving up this position, he’s joined Ripple’s board at the behest of Chris Larsen, who clearly thinks he’s the next great leader of a cryptocurrency empire. 🚀 And let’s not forget his role as an advisor at Evernorth, where he’ll “stack XRP” like it’s 1999. 📦

As for his retirement plans, Schwartz ironically mused that he’ll “think about deep and important things.” So far, his thoughts have been consumed by “strawberry ice cream.” 🍦 A man of simple pleasures, indeed.

Ripple has no plans to buy crypto exchange: Monica Long

In other news, Monica Long, Ripple’s president, took to Bloomberg to share the company’s 2026 “vision.” With all the enthusiasm of a man explaining the rules of bridge, she revealed plans for “vertical integration”-a fancy term for building the “full stack” of crypto, which includes blockchain, RLUSD, and crypto custody (Palisade). 🏗️

The president also outlined their acquisition strategy, which sounds like a list of tech startups with “GTreasury” and “1,000+ corporates.” 🤝 Meanwhile, she swiftly dismissed rumors of Ripple buying a crypto exchange. “While exchanges are key partners, Ripple has no plans to buy one,” she said-though one wonders if she’s just being polite. 🚫
